Jet Airways- A Vital Cog in Indian Aviation

Jet Airways is one of the major airline companies operating in India and has its base in Mumbai. It is currently placed second in terms of biggest airline companies in India with respect to passengers carried and market share, second to IndiGo. The secondary hubs of the airline are in Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata and Delhi. It was established by Naresh Goyal in 1992.

Jet Airways and its journey

In order to stay connected to seventy four destinations across the globe, it runs more than 300 flights on a daily basis. Jet Airways covers a total of sixty nine destinations (22 international and 47 domestic) located in 19 countries spread over North America, Europe and Asia. For serving the short distances in the domestic circuit, it uses Boeing ATR 72-500s and Boeing 737 Next Generation. On the other hand it resorts to Boeing 777-300ER, Airbus A330-300 and Airbus A330-200 in order to serve long distance routes.

The first international flight operated by Jet Airlines flew to London, England in 2005. It also maintains a scissors hub in Belgium since 2007 in order to carry out trans-atlantic flights to the US and Canada. There was a recession which led Jet Airways to shut down flights on several routes like Birmingham-Brussels, Mumbai-Shanghai- San Francisco, Ahmedabad-London, Bangalore-Brussels, etc.

Jet Airways has made codesharing agreements with a number of airlines such as Air France, Air Canada, Aer Lingus, All Nippon Airways, Kenya Airways, Ethiad Airways, Alitalia, Air Seychelles, Virgin Atlantic, Emirates, etc. in order to stay connected swiftly to different destinations across the world.
